Who we are
Oxford Medical is the leading provider of professional skills training for doctors. We have 20 years of experience in medical education. Every year, we support thousands of doctors through our training courses, online courses, books and free support materials. We specialise in developing leadership and management skills, communication skills and teaching skills in medical environments and supporting doctors to prepare for interviews.
We believe that developing your skills as a doctor brings benefits to you, your patients, your colleagues, and your organisation. The impact on patients, teams and organisations is always a key focus of our work.
Our history and achievements
We were founded 20 years ago, in 2004, in the city of Oxford by a consultant anaesthetist, and have registered “Oxford Medical” as our trademark with the UK’s Intellectual Property Office. In 2011, we relocated our office to Edinburgh and now run our operations from there.
Oxford Medical is a private limited company and is not part of Oxford University.

In 2022, Healthcare Business Review included us in their annual listing of the top five UK companies that are at the forefront of providing Medical Staff Training and Development Services. We appeared on the cover of the September European and UK edition of their publication with a 3-page main feature inside.
In June 2024, we were delighted to achieve the Customer Service Excellence hallmark from the UK Government Cabinet Office, following the rigorous independent assessment and accreditation process. Our accreditation for this hallmark is reviewed on an annual basis.
Our services
Our company was initially established to provide medical interview skills courses and, over time, we broadened our focus to cover training in all behavioural skills for doctors. Our 2-day, tutor-led Teach the Teacher Course is one of the most popular medical teaching skills courses in the UK. Both Consultant Interview and Teach the Teacher courses take place at least once a week throughout the year. We schedule our medical leadership and communication skills courses for doctors typically run once a month, or more often during busier period. Most of our courses are also available as instant access online courses, so you can start your development at any time you like.
The majority of our tutor-led courses are mostly delivered in our Virtual Classrooms. We also run some in London and Birmingham. We keep delegate numbers low to enable us to deliver interactive, focused, individual support. Our tutors are carefully selected based on their experience and ability to support learning in a healthcare environment. All tutors for our interview skills courses are experienced NHS consultants, trained in the medical selection process.

Accreditation
All Oxford Medical courses are independently assessed and validated by CPD Healthcare and come with a recognised CPD certificate. Our leadership and management courses are additionally approved by the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (FMLM).
