Consultant One to One Medical Interview Skills Sessions
Please note that all current dates are fully booked. A tailored, individual 1-2-1 skills session for doctors applying for consultant positions who wish to receive personal attention with their medical interview preparation. These 2 hour individual sessions cover all aspects that you require for your interview preparation such as
The goal of the 2 hour session is to identify the areas of strength and unique selling points within your application (and yes you will have many) and also areas that need further improvement and preparation. A 1-2-1 summary sheet will be written giving details or these areas of strength and a development plan for improving the areas that we think you need to concentrate on.
The structure of the 2 hour session will involve:
We run through your CV / application form and the advertised job plan/ personal specification to clarify areas of excellence/unique selling points. This helps us get to know how you have been trained and also identify our future goals both of which are essential for the interview process. 20 minutes A 1-2-1 mock interview tailored both to the level of clinical experience and personal specification for the advertised post. Here we examine the different categories that will be assessed on your interview day to identify areas that you should “play to” and also areas needing more preparation. 30 minutes Here we will review your performance with you on video and comment on the following: Your use of Interview skills The content within your answers, knowledge of the NHS and hot topics. Rapport formation with the interviewer.Areas of strength that you need to highlight during your interview. Areas that require more attention during the remaining time that you have to prepare. 20 minutes Once areas for development have been identified we will spend time coaching you and providing both factual knowledge and opinions in order to provide structured and professional responses to any question that may be asked in this particular area. Details on important interview skills techniques will be provided. 20 minutes A chance for you to practice these new skills, techniques and knowledge and also to help complete the learning cycle providing deep learning of the discussed material. 20 minutes A plan for future preparation based on your performance and career assessment. This will help you direct the limited time that you have prior to your interview to focus on the areas that are important to your application. 10 mintues

When are these sessions held? We run our 1-2-1 sessions during the week on Monday-Saturday.There are 4 slots during the day which are: 09:00-11:00 11:00-13:00 14:00-16:00 16:00-1800 There are also evening slots available after work as we know you may at work during the day.
