We run through your CV / application form and the advertised job plan/ personal specification to clarify areas of excellence/unique selling points. This helps us get to know how you have been trained and also identify our future goals both of which are essential for the interview process. 20 minutes

A 1-2-1 mock interview tailored both to the level of clinical experience and personal specification for the advertised post. Here we examine the different categories that will be assessed on your interview day to identify areas that you should “play to” and also areas needing more preparation. 30 minutes

Once areas for development have been identified we will spend time coaching you and providing both factual knowledge and opinions in order to provide structured and professional responses to any question that may be asked in this particular area. Details on important interview skills techniques will be provided.

A chance for you to practice these new skills, techniques and knowledge and also to help complete the learning cycle providing deep learning of the discussed material.

Case Report:

Sabeena had been unsuccessful in applying for an NHS post as a Consultant Gynaecologist for some time despite 2 previous interviews. The feedback she had received from previous AAC panels was that she came across as unstructured and disorganised. She was also told that she was not strong on management issues which would be expected as a key role within the advertised Consultant posts. She had no problems getting short listed however was over powered by the AAC panel process. Sabeena contacted us and arranged a 1-2-1 training session with one of our trainers.

During the 20 minute career review session it became apparent that Sabeena had a very strong clinical background however lacked individual exposure to management within the NHS. Her video recorded session highlighted a dedicated and motivated individual who was too focused on clinical aspects to her application. Her factual knowledge and understanding of the workings of the NHS were poor and her opinions on how she would strategically advance the advertised post had been given no prior thought. She was also unaware of the fine balance between clinical and management representation on the AAC panel.

Sabeena received individual focused tuition on leadership, management styles and the evolution and workings on the NHS. During her second interview she applied her new knowledge and her performance was greatly improved especially combined with some of the great interview skills tips that she received.
